This is my cockatoo ‘Karrack’ – Karrack in Noongar language means black feathers. The cockatoo represents change and it is also believed they are the guardians of the spirits of loved ones who have passed as they make the journey to rest with the ancestors. I wanted him shown with a gum tree and honky nuts. I use to have a big gum tree in the front yard of the house in Perth I grew up in. We always found a way to play games with the honky nuts that fell of the trees. I love that it’s these little things you remember growing up. When it came to colour I also wanted this one to be bright! The cultural significance of the cockatoo bringing change makes me think it should be a positive thing and I wanted it to be bold and bright to represent this.

Canvas prints go through a colour matching process with the original artwork to make sure your print is an exact match to the original painting. The prints are made with the highest quality canvas and include added protection to maintain the colour and quality for years to come. The print has a mirrored edge effect so it can be nicely stretched over a frame.

Photo Rag - Giclee printing on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Smooth, 308gsm – very matte, 100% cotton finish, smooth, no sheen.
